Who We Are

Kauai Community Players (KCP) is a vibrant and long-standing community theater organization on the island of Kauai. Established in 1971 by passionate theater enthusiasts, KCP is dedicated to promoting non-professional theater experiences within the local community. With members actively involved in various roles, including directors, actors, set designers, costume makers, and crew members, KCP embodies the spirit of community collaboration.

Over the years, KCP has showcased a diverse array of over 200 plays, and its annual season is curated by the Board of Directors based on proposals from potential directors. In its early years, KCP staged productions in various venues, including hotel banquet rooms, church halls, and pavilions. Notably, the organization played a significant role in the local theater scene, even creating spin-off groups like The North Shore Players and Kauai Kids at Play (which later became Hawaii Children’s Theatre). KCP also played a pivotal role in the formation of the KauaiAlliance for the Performing Arts (KAPA), collaborating with other theater organizations to establish the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse, which has since transformed into a thriving black box theater. Throughout its history, KCP has remained committed to its mission of fostering community theater and celebrating the performing arts on Kauai.
